General Information
The International Department is here to represent and support all students within the PLUS community. Our roles include consulting and helping degree-seeking students and welcoming international, Erasmus, visiting and exchange students prior to and during their stay in Salzburg. Our office is in close contact with the PLUS International Office and through this contact, we can assist PLUS students in designing and planning any terms or stays abroad.
Buddy Network
The Buddy Network matches international students with local students to help make the start in Salzburg easier, more welcoming, and more connected. Our program brings together students from different cultural backgrounds and supports incoming students as they adjust to life in Salzburg. Local buddies help international students find their way around university life, including platforms such as PLUS Online and Studo, and offer practical guidance on topics like public transportation, everyday life, and settling into a new environment.
During the semester, participants can also join 5–6 group events, such as...
- orientation activities
- a cultural sensitivity workshop for local buddies
- pub crawls
- karaoke nights
- lake visits or hikes
- game nights etc.
You can join the Buddy Network either as an international buddy or as a local buddy. To become a local buddy, you should:
- have lived in Salzburg for at least one year
- be fluent in English
As a local buddy, you receive 6 ECTS as compensation.
The matching process begins around 3-4 weeks before the semester starts, so keep your eyes peeled for the invitation emails!
